Vasco – Vitória (Preview, Prediction, Tips) 05.11.2017

The draw being a disastrous result for their pretensions, Vasco and Vitoria have their paths crossed this Sunday, November 5. The duel is part of the schedule of the thirty-second round of the Brazilian Championship 2017 and begins at 19h (Brasília time). It will be held in Maracanã.
Initially the match was scheduled for San Januário. But fearing conflicts among fans for being on the eve of an electoral process, the Basque directors asked to change the confrontation to a larger stadium.

Vasco’s recent performance

It was there that in the previous round the vascaínos were in the scoreless draw with Flamengo. Although coach Zé Ricardo liked the result, he was not good considering the possibility of Vasco reaching a place in the qualifying zone for the 2018 Copa Libertadores of America.
This right is reserved for the top seven. The cross-Maltese team is in eighth place with 44 points (12 wins, eight draws and 11 losses). His closest rival in this fight is Flamengo, who has three points more. Thus, equality in direct confrontation means that the Basques not only have to overcome their commitments as twisting to the opponent’s stumbling blocks.
Sunday’s journey is considered a good opportunity for this. While Vasco play at home, Flamengo, worn out by the midweek matchup for the South American Cup, faces Grêmio in Porto Alegre.
However, to get the three points in their match, Vasco will have to solve a great deficiency shown in previous games: the great difficulty of putting the ball in the opponents’ net.
In the last three matches, Vasco failed to score a goal. Both in the 1: 1 draw against Coritiba, and in a 1-0 win against Atlético-GO, rivals scored against leaving the Basque strikers just the job of celebrating.
If the offensive performance is far from brilliant, the defensive has improved a lot. Has been the main responsible for the unbeaten series of seven matches (three wins and four draws) that the team has achieved.
The great hope for the improvement of the offensive production is the return of striker Luis Fabiano. Recovered from knee surgery, he regularly participated in training throughout the week. His physical conditioning will be important for Zé Ricardo to determine if he can resume his place as a starter in the Andre Rios spot or be related to the reserve bench being an option for the second half.
Another offensive move may occur in the right wing. Yago Pikachu has been scaled in the position being responsible for the creation of players by the sector and launches to the area. Paulinho, who was serving the Brazilian U17 team at the World Championship in the category, has resubmitted to the club and can win the position.
Injured, left-back Ramon will be out for the rest of the season. The vacancy will be filled by Henry.

The current form of Victory

While the rival needs Vitória to be able to continue dreaming of the Libertadores, the need for the three points of the red-black Bahian is even more important, but in the fight against relegation. Owner of the worst performance as principal of the Brasileirão, the Lion has fueled his hopes of remaining in Serie A with the results obtained as a visitor.
In this situation he has accumulated 24 (seven wins, three draws and five losses) of the 34 (nine wins, seven draws and 15 losses) he has and place him in the nineteenth (penultimate) position of the Brazilian Championship.
The fifth-best visitor to the tournament, Vitória should have important returns for Sunday’s game. Keeper Fernando Miguel, recovered from a concussion, has normally participated in the week’s practice and will regain his position.
Defender Kanu is another who returns to the team. He’ll make the area double with Wallace. So, Fred comes back to reserve. In the right-back, Caique Sá was injured in the tie, by 1 to 1, with Atlético-GO in the round of number 30. If he does not recover in time will be replaced by Patric.

History of the matches
Vitória is dominant in the confrontations with Vasco in the First Division of the Brasileirão. Won 15 of 35 matches. The cariocas accumulated 12 successes and the draws were eight. In the first round of the 2017 season, Vasco thrashed 4-1 in Salvador.
