French Open postponed for another week

The French Open in tennis was originally scheduled to take place between May 18 and June 7, but was temporarily postponed due to the fall (September 20-October 4) due to the pandemic of the new coronavirus. But now, according to Paris-based officer Le Parisien, the organizers have rescheduled him for another week, beginning on September 27.

The newspaper writes that the new start of the tournament, unlike the previous one, is in line with ATP and WTA, which have not yet commented on the postponement.

The Big Four turf tournament in Wimbledon has already been canceled by organizers, while Parisians are still hoping the sandy tournament will be possible. The US OP is also wanted by the US organizers, the tournament is scheduled to take place between August 24 and September 13, so the postponed start of the OP France starting September 20 was also somewhat surprising.

The biggest sand tournament is scheduled to begin on September 27 and end on October 11, which means that the introductory duels will not overlap with the French cycling race, which is expected to end on September 20 in Paris.

If all goes according to plan, there will now be two tournaments between the US and French OPs, and the French organizers will be able to derive qualifications that they did not intend after the initial transfer. However, everything will depend on the course of the pandemic.

The first grand slam season in Australia was won by American Sofia Kenin and Serbian Novak Djokovic, the first player in the world.
